Village of Westmont Community Garage Sale

Each year, the Village of Westmont organizes Community-Wide Garage Sales, which encourages residents to hold their garage sales during the same weekend to bring out the bargain hunters en masse. This year the garage sale will be on one weekend for the entire Village. The publicized hours for the garage sales will be from 8:00am - 5:00pm on each day.

Participants receive free promotion on Comcast Ch. 16 and AT&T Ch. 99, as well as the Village website and fliers throughout the community. Participants are welcome to advertise their sales in local newspapers and garage sale websites as well.

Village garage sale permits are not required for garage sales held in conjunction with the Community Garage Sale event but participants do need to register for the permit to be waived and to be included in publicity.

Participants should sign up by Friday, June 5 by emailing wsec@westmontevents.com or calling 630-829-9378. Participants must include their name, address of sale, and dates of participation to be included in the publicity. For more info, call 630-829-9378.

 

Village of Westmont Electronics Recycling

Starting in May, the Village of Westmont in coordination with Dupage County will host free electronics recycling events. This will take place on the second Friday of each month, beginning May 13, 2011. Drop off will take place at Ty Warner Park south parking lot near Blackhawk and Plaza Drives. Community Blood Drives

The Westmont Fire Department will host three Community Blood Drives in 2011.
The blood drives are coordinated in affliation with area blood banks that provide
blood to local hospitals. Westmont Blood Drives typically occur at the
Fire Department Headquarters.

Patriot Day Ceremony

Each year, the Village of Westmont conducts a ceremony on Patriot Day in honor of emergency services personnel who lost their lives in the call of duty and to remember the people who perished during the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
 

National Fire Prevention Week Begins Oct. 9

Fire Department Open House
October 11

The open house is scheduled at Fire Department Headquarters, 6015 S. Cass Avenue.
This is an event for the entire family to learn more about your Fire Department and fire safety.
Fire safety acitivities, informational displays and refreshments will be featured.

Silent Parade
October 14

A silent parade is held each year to pay tribute to the firefighters and civilians who have
lost their lives to fire. The parade features a silent, solemn procession of fire department
vehicles traveling along Chicago Avenue and Naperville Road.
Residents may participate by holding a flashlight as the procession passes.
